Bill was born May 31, 1923 to Joseph and Flora (Brewer) Conway in Winegar, Wisconsin where he grew up, attending schools in Marenisco, Michigan. He entered the U.S. Army in 1941 serving in the Pacific Campaign of World War II, the Korean War, and was later stationed in Germany. He retired from the Army at Fort Benning, Georgia in 1963, and moved to Silver Bay where he was employed in plant protection at Reserve Mining Co., retiring in 1983.
Bill was a founding member of the Winegar American Legion Post 480, Presque Isle (then Winegar), WI, and later the VFW Post in Silver Bay.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and other outdoor activities.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Edna in 1998; a daughter, Maxine; a son, Bill; a granddaughter, April; a brother, Victor; and sisters, Virginia, Marian, Dolly and Grace.
