After finishing boot camp at Great Lakes, Illinois in May 1964, Ed then entered Electricians Mate A School at Great Lakes until September 1964.He was then assigned to the USS Hector in October 1964.  The Hector was a ship that did repair work for other ships, such as rebuilding and repairing electric motors, generators, starters and batteries.

During his time in service he spent tours in Long Beach, San Diego, and San Francisco, California.  He also served tours in the Philippines, Taiwan, and Japan.

He currently lives in Winchester, Wisconsin.
