Jay was born in Kenosha, Wisconsin in 1949.  He came to Presque Isle with his family as a young boy to vacation, hunt and fish.  He enlisted in the Marines right after high school and served in Vietnam and Okinawa.  He moved to Presque Isle after he got out of the service and has been here ever since.  He enjoys hunting and fishing and spent his early years in Presque Isle as a professional fishing guide.  He then worked for the town of Presque Isle on the town crew for 25 years.  He also served as supervisor on the Town Board and has been a member of the Presque Isle Fire Department for over 30 years as a volunteer fire fighter.  He also has been a member of the Winegar American Legion Post 480, Presque Isle,  for many years.  Jay has a son, Rob, a daughter, Amy, a stepson, Patrick, and a stepdaughter, Toni and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  He has been married to Cathy for 25 years.
