Mr. McKenzie was born in either Nova Scotia or Scotland approximately December 1836, or in 1842, according to Ancestory.com. He married Mary C. Scofield (1843-1905) on August 23, 1873 and had three children James “Daniel” McKenzie (1874-1930), Hugh McKenzie (1876-1886) and Maud B. McKenzie (1883-1911)
James lived in Newaygo, Michigan with his family for much of his life. He died in 1909 and is buried in the Presque Isle Cemetery, Presque Isle, Wisconsin.
