Sgt. Schwanda was stationed at Langley Air Force Base, Hampton, Virginia. He maintained a TSSCI security clearance during his time in service.
He was a member of the 1913th Information Systems Group, in support of the First Tactical Fighter Wing and the Commander in Chief of the US Atlantic Fleet. His main objective was to maintain and repair cryptographic communications equipment and, from time to time, set up conference calls with the Joint Chiefs’ of Staff. His second objective was to ensure encrypted communications with all Tactical Air Command bases worldwide. He was part of the team that installed the first known FAX machines.
Anthony lives with his wife in Boulder Junction, Wisconsin and is a member of the Winegar Post 480 American Legion in Presque Isle, Wisconsin.
