Originally from Rossiclare, Illinois, Jim served in the US Navy for 20 years from July 4, 1942, 13 years, aboard several US Naval vessels in the Pacific Theater, until he retired in February 1962. In October 1947, he began training as a Hospital Corpsman at Great Lakes Naval Training center in Illinois. While there, he met and married Dolores Arlene Anderson on January 22, 1949.
Following his retirement from the Navy, Jim served with the U.S. Civil Service Commission as an Educational Television Producer, producing teaching video tapes for the Naval Hospital at Great Lakes Naval Training Center.
After his second retirement, Jim and Dolores moved to Presque Isle, WI where he continued to serve as a Town Constable and County Zoning Administrator. The family enjoyed fishing, hunting and snowmobiling. They had one daughter, Linda and multiple grand and great grandchildren.
