Prior to his marriage he served with the US Army National Guard “Red Arrow” 32nd Infantry Brigade, then, after 40 years retired from Kimberly Clark Manufacturing Company.  He loved his family and traveling with them.  He also loved the outdoors, hunting, trapping, row trolling for muskie, and fishing in the Great Lakes and for walleye in Canada. In their retirement Ed and Mary moved to the Northwoods and became active in the Winegar Post 480 American Legion and the Post Auxiliary, serving the Presque Isle, Wisconsin community.
Ed was instrumental in founding Wisconsin’s gun safety and hunter education program, work that brought him immense pride. He was also an active member of the Outagamie County Conservation Club, enjoying his trap league and reloading for himself and many others. Ed was known for his quick wit, euphemisms and great humor.
