I was ‘born & raised’ in Madison WI, two blocks west of Camp Randall / Field House. Needless to say, a through and through Wisconsin fan! Attended UW-Lacrosse receiving a degree in Secondary Ed and a proud member of Delta Sigma Phi fraternity. Four and a half months after graduation and teaching, #134 resulted in being drafted into The United States Army. Basic Training was at Fort Polk, LA, as all others were full. Being the oldest in my company and the only one with any higher education, let alone my degree, I was assigned to Fort Hood, TX for the remainder of my service time.

Most of the others went on to advanced infantry and artillery training. Found out a number of years later, that approx. 65% of my platoon in BT, never made it back alive. Service time was 1971 – 1973, at Fort Hood, US Army Garrison as a planning and processing specialist. PROUD TO HAVE SERVED!!! After serving, I attended Winona State University in MN earning a Masters degree in Secondary Ed. Admin. Spent 33 years teaching / administrating (highest level of incompetence) with The School District of Onalaska (WI). I have been a member of American Legion Post 336, Onalaska since 1994, including a lot of volunteering, committee work, offices held, Honor Guard, etc. Rewarding and enjoyiable.
