Albert served during World War II  in the Pacific Theater; New Guinea, Southern Philippines and Luzon. He served with the 127th Infantry, 32nd Division, Red Arrow Brigade. After 15 months as a light motor crewman, Albert suffered a hearing loss due to a nearby explosion. He completed his service by spending 4 months as a clerk typist until discharge.
