My Dad enlisted, was stationed in Germany and always downplayed his service saying he was part of the “Peace time Army”. I have since come to respect more his service to his country and the time that he voluntarily gave up for all of us even if it wasn’t in a combat zone. We were all very proud of the Military Honors at his funeral.

Here is some additional information regarding my Dad:

Married for 50 years to his wife Ethel; Father of two sons, 5 grandchildren. Through the G.I. BIll he graduated from UW-Madison with a BBA in 1960 and in 1978 earned an MBA from UW-Milwaukee. Worked in data processing for Wisconsin Power and Light in Madison, WI from 1960 until his retirement in 1993. He continued to serve his community throughout his life, most recently for PRO LABORE DEI feeding the homeless in Madison.

Born March 18, 1934 and raised in Wausau, WI; lived in Madison, WI from 1960 until his passing on December 11, 2016, at the age of 84. Interred Highland Memory Gardens, Cottage Grove, Wisconsin. See Son Don Ziegler’s Father-in-law.  Click: Flasch, Donald Killian
